Barbati & Ipsos

Barbati is one of the most popular regions on Corfu island. It is a lively place with the natural charm of the Greek landscape overlooking the sparkling Ionian Sea. It  is located on the scenic northeast coast of Corfu and is set at the foot of the highest mountain of Corfu, Pantokrator.

Barbati village and beach

The main village of Barbati is located up on the main road where you can find a good choice of shops and places to eat and drink. At the end of the village is a mile long shingle beach,  the outstanding asset Barbati has to offer. The beach is long and the views are stunning. To the right you look across to Corfu town, where you can spot  the old town and the forts. On the left the view is of the Albanian coastline where it meets with the Greek mainland.

Ipsos village and beach

Ipsos is one of the best known resorts in Corfu, just 14 km drive from Corfu town. The village is developed following the coast and offers a stunning view over Albanian coastline. The beach,  mixed shingle with patches of sand, is 1km long,  well organised with clean water.  Ipsos offers a wide choice of good restaurants and snack bars  but is mostly famous for its bustling night life. The area is particularly popular among young people but the recent years has managed to gain ground among those who wish for calm and tranquillity.

Nearby beaches

Barbati is in an extremely privileged position. It’s a 30min drive from the town and in a short drive to some of the most beautiful beaches of the island. Agni, Kalami, Aghios Stefanos, Kerasia, Kassiopi, Almyros and Rhoda are just few of many others.

Spartillas and nearby villages

There are many traditional older villages in the hills behind the resort which are worth visiting.  The inland villages are magical and offer stunning views across the whole island. Spartillas, one of the most picturesque villages of  the island, just about 2 miles from Barbati, known as the “balcony of Corfu” for its spectacular view, Old Sinies, an old deserted village and the  Pantokrator monastery, the monastery on the top of the highest mountain of Corfu, Pantokrator, are some of the places you wouldn’t want to miss.

Activities

If you are feeling more adventurous the area offers amazing hiking trails, with most of them beginning from the village Spartillas and heading for the Pantokrator summit. Another way to explore the area is by boat. You can rent one or you can join one of the many tours that take place every day around the island and to specific locations.  Watersports are of course available in the whole area. From water- skiing and water boards to parasailing and banana boats, there is not an activity of that kind you couldn’t possibly find. Within easy reach you can find the waterparks of the island and also the Corfu Golf Club, one of the best kept in Europe.
